“Understanding Unemployment Insurance”  
This will cover all the new changes that have gone into effect by September 2019.      

This presentation helps employers learn how to properly report wages, identify pitfalls and common mistakes, and develop processes to ensure they are fully compliant with unemployment insurance laws. Among the topics to be covered during the event:

*Correct wage reporting
*How premiums and benefits are calculated
*Accurate premium payments
*Using online tools to manage unemployment insurance premium accounts
*Proper classification of workers as employees or independent contractors
*Understanding the unemployment insurance appeals process

Julie Herren is employed at the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment as an Auditor within the Division of Unemployment Insurance, a position she has held for over 8 years. Julie has a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting degree from the University of Phoenix and over 15 years of prior experience working in public accounting and tax. She currently works in the Fort Collins and northeast region. Her role involves enforcing unemployment insurance regulations and statues established as part of the Colorado Employment Securities Act, focusing on proper wage reporting and the correct classification of workers. Julie embraces the Division’s core values of teamwork, collaboration, adaptability, accountability, integrity, excellence and respect. She is passionate about her work with the people of the State of Colorado.

You are invited to join other Payroll and HR professionals for a delicious catered speaker luncheon on September 19th!  

Location:  Loveland Chamber of Commerce, 5400 Stone Creek Circle, Loveland, CO.  The business luncheon meeting will start promptly at 11:30 a.m.  The Speaker will present from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.  

The cost of your first chapter visit/lunch is only $10!  Subsequent meeting costs will be $25.00 for Colorado APA chapter members.  The Non-member cost is $35.00.  See Membership at
