August 16, 2018 – NCPA presents – JB Morey, CPP – “Emotional Intelligence”

JB Morey, CPP is the guest speaker for the upcoming August 16th meeting.  Mr. Morey will present the “Emotional Intelligence” presentation provided by the APA at the 2016 APA Chapter Leadership Summit in Las Vegas.  We are priviledged and excited to have him back again!

This 60-minute program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and tools to develop your emotional intelligence.  You’ll learn how to avoid self-sabotaging outcomes by altering how you perceive and respond to emotionally charged situations.  In addition, you’ll improve your ability to resolve conflict constructively, create a productive work environment, build and mend relationships, and bounce back from setbacks and disappointment.

Speaker Bio

J.B. Morey, CPP, has been in the payroll field for over 17 years.  During his career, he has worked for both private and public sector employers in processing and supervisory roles, dealing with multi-state and global payrolls.

On a national level, J.B. is a long time and active member of the APA.  In 2013 he served on the Standard Setting Committee reviewing the CPP/FPC test criteria, from 2014-2016 he served as the Board of Advisor for APA’s Region 5, is a member of APA’s National Speakers Bureau, and just completed a two-year term on the Chapter Recognition Committee.

On a local level J.B. served on the DCPA’s Executive Board of Directors from 2008-2017, including two terms as both Vice President and President.  Through the years he has served on every committee the chapter offers, including 10 consecutive years on the RMRPC Planning Committee.  In 2014 J.B. was recognized for his involvement and promotion of Payroll as a Profession, and was awarded the honor of DCPA’s Payroll Professional of the Year.

September 20, 2018  NCPA presents – Tina Harkness, Esquire, SPHR, SHRM –                                                                                         “Hot Topics in Employment Law 2018.

Ms. Harkness is an employment law attorney and the Director of the Employer’s Council (formerly MSEC) regional office in Loveland, CO.  She represents employers in a wide variety of employment law matters. Tina is a frequent speaker and facilitator of training on topics including legal issues in managing employees, harassment prevention, civil rights, managing employee medical issues, diversity, and other subjects. Tina has presented workshops at the annual Rocky Mountain Payroll Conference and has previously given presentations to our chapter.  We’re very privileged to have her back again!

The cost of your first chapter visit/lunch is only $10!  Subsequent meeting costs will be $25.00 for Colorado APA chapter members.  The Non-member cost is $35.

Location:  Loveland Chamber of Commerce, 5400 Stone Creek Circle, Loveland, CO.  The business luncheon meeting will start promptly at 11:30 a.m.  The Speaker will present from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
