THANK YOU! – Nicholas Haynes, Employment Law Associate Attorney

We had a full house for our last chapter meeting of the year.  Everyone enjoyed a pre-Thanksgiving dinner, including smoked turkey, provided by Chef Ken Rosander of Main Street Catering.  We were excited to be joined by two visitors to our chapter and our speaker, Nicholas Haynes, Esq, presented on the below topic.  Nick articulated his experience into a powerful presentenation that was timely and super informative!

THANK YOU NICK!  WE PLAN TO ASK YOU BACK AGAIN NEXT YEAR!!

November 15, 2018

Speaker:  Nicholas Haynes, Employment Law Associate Attorney

Topic:       FMLA and other Leaves of Absence for Employees.

Nicholas Haynes is an Employment Law Associate Attorney at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP in Denver.  The firm represents employers in Colorado and nationwide in a number of different practice areas, including corporate governance and employment law.  Nick was previously a Managing Attorney at Employer’s Council, Inc.

In his presentation, Nick will address the United States Department of Labor, Wage & Hour Division’s Family and Medical Leave Act and other protected leaves that employees working in Colorado enjoy depending on the size of their employer.  He will address the legal obligations that affect even small and medium sized employers who are not covered by the FMLA.

Nick will also explore the implications for employers when an employee is not yet eligible for a protected leave or has exhausted a protected leave.  Attendees will learn about what they can do to manage their employee’s leave while staying proactive during the time their employees are out.  Compliance and avoiding litigation come first, but Nick will also include the importance of maintaining positive employee relations while administering leaves.
